Covenant

The conditional promises made to humanity by God, as revealed in Scripture. the agreement between God and the ancient Israelites, in which God promised to protect them if they kept His law and were faithful to Him. A solemn and binding agreement between two or more parties especially for the performance of some action. Covenant is instituted through the sacrifice of a choice, fattened, an animal that is cut in two pieces, and between which the parties of the covenant pass. If one party fails to meet the agreements of the covenant, then the other may do the same to them. (see Genesis 15:10,17 and Jeremiah 34:18-20)
